“We’re putting the power back in the hands of the people who make the NDP work – our members, volunteers, and activists – so we can win together.”

At a glance

Our plan delivers:

  • Real power for members
  • Stronger Electoral District Associations (EDAs) and regional networks
  • Transparent decision making
  • Campaign strength in every riding
  • A diverse, inclusive, community-rooted movement that takes care of one another

The challenge

Across the country, New Democrats have been showing up, knocking on doors, organizing events, and building community, and too often they have felt ignored.

Members want to help shape our party, but our structures have not always made that easy. We have missed chances to grow, recruit, build lasting local strength, and welcome new people into the movement. Sometimes we have even shrunk into ourselves instead of opening the door wider. We have ignored social and issue-based movements and have not always built relationships that last.

Canada’s workers, rank-and-file union members, and labour activists have always been at the heart of our movement. They have been showing up for fairness, better working conditions, and stronger communities long before election cycles. When their voices are not fully reflected in our structures, we miss opportunities to stay rooted in the people who built this party and to better engage those activists in the work of the party.

This has to change.

The solution

The way forward is simple. Trust and empower New Democrats across Canada. Rebuild from the ground up by shifting resources, authority, and energy back to the grassroots where our movement lives.

This means shifting power and resources to local organizers, engaging members as leaders, and turning every riding association into a community of organizing rooted in fairness, neighbourly care, and practical teamwork.

This includes working more closely with our labour partners and rank-and-file members of unions. When we bring workplace leaders, union stewards, and labour councils into local organizing, we strengthen our roots and our reach. When we engage workers directly, everyone benefits.

This is not about new layers of process. It is about a new way of doing politics that is transparent, inclusive, and based on teamwork instead of hierarchy. Hundreds of Members from across the country joined a virtual Town Hall to review, discuss, and contribute to this plan.

When we listen to each other and build together, we win together. Every voice counts. Every member matters. Together, we can build a party as diverse, dynamic, and ambitious as Canada.

This is how we win

This plan is about more than internal reform. It is about rebuilding trust and inviting more people into the movement.

When we organize from the ground up, we do more than elect candidates. We build a movement that lasts between elections, rooted in community, powered by people, and grounded in fairness, neighbourly care, and shared strength.

When we stand with workers and the labour movement, we stay true to who we are and to the people who built this party. Together, we can rebuild a party rooted in fairness, community, and solidarity.

The truth is simple: if we build together, we will win together.

Change starts with all of us – members, volunteers, candidates, and MPs working side by side to rebuild the NDP from the ground up and build a bigger table for the country we want to serve.
