“I’m running to bring people together and make sure the NDP is the party working people can trust and rely on again,” McPherson said. “Growing up, my parents would host big dinners. To fit everyone in, we’d take the doors off the hinges, put them on makeshift legs, and use them as tables. That idea stuck with me – politics, and our party, should make sure there’s a seat at the table for everyone, not push people out or shrink to purity tests.”
McPherson says her campaign will focus on rebuilding trust with working families by showing that the NDP has their backs: fighting for good jobs, homes people can afford, stronger public services, and a fairer deal.
“A strong, united NDP wins more seats by listening, not dividing. We don’t grow by shutting people out – we grow by opening doors and building a bigger table,” McPherson said. “That’s how we deliver change for Canadians– and that’s how we win the trust of people again.”
Since being elected in 2019, McPherson has built a reputation as a principled voice for change. She has stood with unions on the picket line, challenged corporate greed, defended human rights abroad, and delivered results for working people.
“An election could come as early as the spring,” said McPherson. “Our party needs someone who’s ready now. I’m ready.”
